How to Identify a Phishing Email

Media_httpimgskitchco_sjalx

The above image shows a typical phishing email. These emails are designed to get you to click a link. The thing about links is they have two components, one is the display portion and the other is the actual target of the link. Website or email authors can the display part of the link to anything, while in the code the actual target points to something else. So before you click any link in an email, it's good practice to make sure you know where it's taking you. To do this, hover your mouse of the link in question, then look in the bottom-left of your browser window. You'll see the actual target of the link. If the domain name in the actual target is different from the display name, or something that looks weird to you, don't click the link.
